Guest Houses in Thailand

Category: Guesthouses

Do I stay in a Guest House or a Hotel? If your budget is not so big you should consider a Guesthouse. A Guest-house is fine alternative to hotels and helps you to save money on your holiday. Although most of the Guest-houses are in the low budget range there are also some Guesthouses at the high end range. Another advantage of Guesthouses is that you can meet up with other travellers.

In most cities and around well known tourists places you will find guesthouses. A lot of the guesthouse don’t have a website and can’t be checked out on the internet. So check your Tour guide (for instance Lonely Planet) and pay a visit to a couple few Guesthouses before you decide where to stay. Guesthouses do not always include breakfast, they can charge some extra for it. In most tourist areas breakfast is offered almost everywhere. Guesthouse mostly have a kitchen where you can order a meal. However on the streets you can eat noodle soup starting at 25 Bath.

The prices of 1 night stay in a Guesthouse starts at 150 Baht, most Guesthouses have rooms between
250 – 1000 Baht. Normally the cheapest rooms are fan cooled rooms and have no private bathroom. Hot showers are not available everywhere. If you like air-conditioning you will have to pay some extra. You can have better offered if you stay for a few days, you will have a bargain. If you are really on a budget find yourself a Guesthouse or a Hostel with a dormitory.
