What you should know about Thailand, 
The Kingdom of Thailand is situated in Southeast Asia. In the east Thailands neighbours are Laos and
Cambodia; to its south, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia; and to its west, the Andaman Sea and Myanmar.
Its capital and largest city is Bangkok.

Thailand is a monarchy, Thai people have a deep respect for the Royal Family. As a visitor you should be
respectful for the King Bhumibol, the Queen Sirikit and the other Royal family members.

When you are invited to a Thai house you should leave your shoes at the door, when entering a temple, you
also leave your shoes in front of the temple.

Never point at people with your feet, this is considered to be very rude, Thai consider the foot as the dirtiest
part of the body . Thai consider the head as sacred you should never touch someone’s head.
 
Monks are forbidden to touch a woman, when a woman wants to give something to a monk they should hand
it over to a man first. Showing affection between to people, such as kissing is not done in
public.. However the younger generation is more accustomed  to a more western way of life.

Thai normally don't shake hands, the traditional Thai greeting, the wai, is offered first by the
youngest of the two people. Their hands pressed together, fingertips pointing upwards as the head is bowed
to touch their face to the hands . The wai means "Hello" but it also means "Goodbye"
