Khorat activities Khorat activities Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat) is well off the usual tourist trail of Thailand; here you will find no beaches, nor is there any (overly) exciting nightlife. Most foreigners will come here on visits to rural families or are just passing through on their way to Laos or Cambodia. Khorat: experience the real Thailand However, if you want to see more of the "real" Thailand, Khorat is definitely one of the places you should be visiting. The local Isaan people are among the most friendly and welcoming I ever encountered. Staying in Khorat does not mean you have to abandon all western civilization. In Khorat City, there are large shopping malls and fast food is available. Going into the surrounding countryside however will be a real experience, especially in regard to eating the famous Thai Isaan food.
